Fourth Year Elective Rotations

University Hospitals provides a diverse selection of clinical electives for 4th-year medical students through the AAMC visiting student learning opportunity (VSLO) site. NEOMED students can apply for these electives through VSLO with application fees waived. Departments will review all applications and offer positions as they deem appropriate. Electives offer exceptional opportunities for students to achieve greater education, training and exposure in specific clinical areas. They provide valuable and insightful experiences that enhance clinical skills, knowledge, and preparation, in the most current diagnostic, treatment, and therapeutic techniques and approaches. Elective rotations also enable students to access advisors, mentors and other healthcare role models throughout the health system that embody the excellence of the University Hospitals mission “To Teach, To Heal, To Discover,” allowing students to cultivate specific clinical and research interests, and strongly positioning them for post-graduation programs.
